Description: Eisenhower was given an apartment for the rest of his life by the Marquess of Ailsa in the top floor of Robert Adam’s most celebrated building in Scotland, Culzean Castle. This was given to Eisenhower in recognition of his leadership of the alied campaign in Europe during the second world war. In the distanceyou can see Ailsa Craig, a volcanic island in the Solway Firth from which the famous championship course at Turnberry takes its name. |
