Description: This fine print commemorates the end of an era for Aintree racecourse's original weighing room. The artist was commissioned to record the room, established in 1900, before it was moved, in 2006, to give way to a new bar. This print gives us a final glimpse, through the open door to the jockey's scales, before the change takes place. The picture conveys the feeling that the last race has been run for this room which has seen triumph, heroism and disappointment over many years. |
